About
Katie is a product design engineer: she designs the system and ships the UI that carries it. At Crocs she ran design systems and accessibility for multi-brand global campaigns — design at consumer scale. At Nodaste she proves it in shipped work: production sites she builds solo, accessibility gates that run in CI instead of review meetings, and brand systems written so both people and AI agents can execute them. Accessibility is not a checkbox in her work; it is how quality, continuity, and trust get built into every interaction. She writes about how AI is reshaping the designer's role: away from routine production work and toward higher-level systems thinking — inventors, not assemblers. She is also a painter; her read on what AI should and shouldn't touch comes from making things by hand.
“Designers should be inventors, not assemblers.”
